Go to art museums...even if you're a writer!


I always tell people that when visiting an art museum pay as much attention to the art you "hate" as you do to the art you "love." I encourage you to study it, figure out why you don't like it. Why such strong feelings? What does it reference? What about it is distasteful? Is it visually distasteful, or (and more likely) what distasteful feelings does it evoke? This art can teach you important lessons about yourself no matter what kind of art you create, or want to create...
