A "prompt" to consider (and a Hugo Simberg painting)

"Danse Macabre" or "Dance of Death" by a Finnish artist is dated 1899 but speaks to the global issues of 2020/21. (Thank you to ArtistsAsActivists.com)

I would be remiss if I didn’t mention Covid 19 in the blog. This pandemic / event / lockdown has left an indelible impression on all of us. But just as there is a collective impression, each of us as individuals has been left with our own specific impression.

As artists and writers, it might be worth exploring such an idea. What’s specific about your impression(s)?

I’ll start. My partner has a job in a field which might require him to be exposed to people somewhat sooner than people with other types of jobs. Not in healthcare, thankfully. I on the other hand may be more susceptible to Covid than some people since I have asthma. With these two factors in mind, we considered that, at some point, he should move to the basement. Unfinished, its a dingy sort of place. But though I hate it, he thinks it has “character.” Crickets and all. Anyway, when I think of Covid, I think of the acquaintances I have lost, those with close calls and also, I think of living in the basement.

Your turn…
